On July 27th, 2023, the International Mobile Communications Authority (IMDA) announced that the registration and sales of 3G-ONLY mobile terminals and mobile/smart phones that don't support VoLTE were terminated, and IMDA announced that 3G services would stop on July 31st, 2024.
3G networks and services in Singapore are about to change. Please pay attention to the following timetable:
Since November 1, 2023,
IMDA will stop accepting new registrations and renewals of 3G-only mobile phones and smartphones that do not support VoLTE.
Since February 1, 2024,
It is no longer allowed to sell local 3G-only mobile phones and smartphones that do not support VoLTE.
Since July 31, 2024
Singapore will stop 3G networks and services.
Brand owners and manufacturers should pay attention to:
? When selling 3G mobile terminals and smartphones that do not support VoLTE, inform customers that 3G services will stop on July 31, 2024;
? For customers who purchase 4G or 5G mobile phones/smartphones, please ensure that VoLTE is enabled, or assist customers to enable VoLTE on new devices, and encourage them to make test calls to ensure that voice calls can be made through VoLTE;
? With the discontinuation of 3G network, voice call services (such as dialing emergency numbers) can only be conducted through VoLTE. Therefore, please also ensure that the sold mobile phones can make emergency calls when using the local operator's network.
